Assistive Technology Industry Association
(ATIA) - A not-for-profit membership organization of organizations manufacturing
or selling technology-based assistive devices for people with disabilities,
or providing services associated with or required by people with disabilities.
Augmentative Communication - Publishes
the newsletters Augmentative Communication News (ACN) and Alternatively Speaking
(AS), which provide information on hot topics in the field, discussion of
vital issues for AAC stakeholders, and news from the AAC community.
Center for Rehabilitation
Technology - Provides support to individuals of any age with disability
through expert services, research, design, technological development, information
dissemination and education.
Family Guide to Assistive Technology
- Helps parents learn more about assistive technology and how it can help
their children. Includes tips for getting started, ideas about where to look
for money, and suggestions for what to do when applying for funding.
Tech Connections - Provides
information about assistive technology to state vocational rehabilitation
and others interested in accommodations for work, school, or home. Includes
accommodation ideas, case studies, resources. Funded by NIDRR.
Independent Living Centre - Features
a large showroom of products and equipment available for testing and review.
Assists in selecting appropriate products prior to purchase.
The Low Vision Gateway - Resources
for finding low vision information, equipment and services on the Internet.
Silver Cross - Free information
to assist in selecting accessibility lifts and mobility devices.
Outcomes - Listserv and website dedicated to the development, evaluation
and application of valid, reliable and sensitive outcome measure tools.
National Assistive Technology Advocacy
Project - Supports the advocacy efforts of attorneys, advocates, service
agencies, persons with disabilities and their families as they seek funding
for AT services and devices in the United States.
Voice-Users Mailing List
- Mailing list on the subject of the use of voice recognition. Covers software
and hardware issues. Offers hints and tips, and solves many of the most common
problems voice users face.
